TABIN WILDLIFE RESERVE
Located in the dense rainforests of eastern Sabah, Tabin Wildlife Reserve spans 122,500 hectares of predominantly lowland dipterocarp forests, offering a sanctuary for Sabah’s largest mammals including the Borneo Pygmy Elephant, Orang Utan, and Banteng. Declared a protected area in 1984, Tabin is not only a biodiversity hotspot with over 300 bird species and numerous primates but also a prime destination for eco-tourism.
Visitors can explore a variety of trails, enjoy wildlife watching at active mud volcanoes, and embark on night safaris. The reserve is complemented by comfortable accommodations such as the Tabin Wildlife Resort and the modern Utan Rainforest Lodge in the adjacent Sungai Kapur Forest Reserve, enhancing the experience with amenities like air-conditioned rooms and a swimming pool, making it an ideal retreat for nature enthusiasts and adventure seekers alike.
